Tools You’ll Need

Before you begin, gather the necessary tools:

✅ Precision screwdriver set (T5 screwdriver)
✅ Tweezers and spudger
✅ Isopropyl alcohol and microfiber cloth
✅ Replacement screen (preferably with a frame)

Step-by-Step Screen Replacement

1. Power Off and Remove the SIM Tray

Always turn off your phone and remove the SIM tray before starting any repair to prevent damage to internal components.

2. Remove the Back Panel

The Nothing Phone (2a) Plus has a glued-down back panel, so we need to apply heat to soften the adhesive. Keep the temperature at 80°C—too hot can damage the OLED, while too cold won’t loosen the glue.

Use a self-heating pad or heat gun and apply heat evenly around the edges for about 10 minutes.
Insert a pentagon-shaped pry tool into the gap along the edges, add some isopropyl alcohol to weaken the adhesive.
Once a small gap forms, slide in a plastic pry card and gently move around the edges to detach the back cover.
Be careful! The back cover is curved transparent glass—avoid fingerprints and keep it clean for reinstallation.

3. Unscrew the Midframe

Use a T5 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the internal cover plates.

Some screws are hidden under stickers—peel them off carefully.
Gently lift the cover plates, but don’t force them—there might still be ribbon cables attached.
Disconnect the flashlight ribbon cable before proceeding.

4. Disconnect the Battery and Components

Use a spudger to lift the battery connector first.
Remove the SIM reader’s cover and take out the SIM reader sub-board.
The battery has a plastic pull-tab—gently pull it to remove the battery.
Beneath the battery, you’ll find three key flex cables:
1. Display screen flex cable
2. Charging port flex cable
3. Main board to sub-board flex cable
The fingerprint sensor is also connected—handle it carefully.

5. Remove the Damaged Screen

Apply heat around the screen edges to soften the adhesive.
Use a suction cup and plastic pry tool to lift the screen without damaging the frame.
Clean off any remaining adhesive from the frame before installing the new screen.

6. Install the New Screen

If you have an original screen with a frame, installation is much easier.
Connect the new display flex cable and test the screen before sealing it back.
Apply fresh adhesive and press the new screen into place.

7. Reassemble the Phone

Reconnect all flex cables and secure the midframe with screws.
Attach the back panel using adhesive or double-sided tape.
Power on the device and test touch responsiveness, display brightness, and all functions.
